Born in Milan on 21 February 1998, Davide Dipilato graduated from the Liceo Classico Alexis Carrel in Milan. He started studying guitar at the age of 7, at the music school Accademia Ambrosiana, and in 2014 he was admitted to the Civica Scuola di Musica Claudio Abbado in Milan, where he obtained a first level diploma with honours and mention, in the class of Agostina Mari. He subsequently obtained a Master of Arts degree in Music Performance at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana, in the class of Lorenzo Micheli, with whom he is still studying, enrolled in the MAS (Master of Advanced Studies).
He has attended master classes by Lorenzo Micheli, Pablo Marquez, Andrea De Vitis, Pavel Steidl, Gian Marco Ciampa, Claudio Maccari and Paolo Pugliese, Giacomo Susani, Marco Ramelli and Laura Snowden. In July 2019 and 2021, he attended the classical guitar masterclass at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena with Oscar Ghiglia, receiving a diploma of merit and a scholarship. In October 2023, he was awarded the Golden Guitar for Young Promise at the International Guitar Convention at the Milan Conservatory. In June 2021, he gave his first solo recital in Switzerland for the Lugano Longlake Festival. In 2023, he gave a recital and masterclass at the Szeged Festival (Hungary).
Davide has been awarded prizes in many national and international competitions as a soloist, including: first prize at the 9th Szeged International Competition 2022 (Hungary), first prize overall at the Europea Music Competition city of Moncalieri (2022), 25th Giulio Rospigliosi edition (2019), first prize at the Giovani Chitarristi di Mottola (2018), second prize at the Altamira International guitar competition in Bale-Valle (2022), second prize at the 49th Sor Competition in Madrid and third prize at the Sevilla Guitar Festival (2023).
From 2016 to 2020, he regularly taught privately and in the music schools in Milan Ottavanota and Centro Asteria. In the former he held both individual and group lessons, while the latter as part of the Mediafriends project, which focuses on the inclusion of foreign children from Milan’s Forlanini district. In November 2021 he took part in the teachers’ refresher course, recognised by the M.I.U.R. in the context of the Corde d’autunno festival (in Milan), of which he is a staff member. Since October 2021 he has been teaching guitar at the Cadenazzo music school (CH) and since 2022 at the Musicando school in Sala Capriasca (Lugano).
