José Javier Navarro

José Javier Navarro Lucas was born in Albacete, Spain in 1976. He began his classical guitar studies with José Tomas in Alicante and Gerardo Arriaga in Madrid. In 1999, he travelled to Switzerland to further his studies at the Basel Music Academy, where he attained a Solistendiplom under the tutelage of Oscar Ghiglia, who would have a definitive influence on his vision and conception of music. Afterwards, he began his studies in the field of electronic music with Erik Oña and Volker Bohm at the Elektronische Studio Basel, where he obtained an Audio-Design diploma in 2007.

His concert activity ranges from classical guitar repertoire to improvisation with electronic instruments of his own creation, as well as the production of visual arts. From 2008 to 2011 he was part of the Aleph Gitarrenquartett, with whom he recorded music by Haas, Furrer, Öhring and Hidalgo for NEOS.

Currently he teaches guitar and „Performance with Electronic Music“ at the Musik-Akademie Basel.
