We are delighted to return to Basel, Switzerland, for the sixth edition of the International Guitar Competition Maurizio Biasini – cciMB & Festival from 19/20 – 24 August 2024.  The competition continues its tradition in bringing together young classical guitarists to “meet, exchange, perform, and learn” at the city’s prestigious conservatory, the Musik-Akademie Basel. Semifinalists will be selected, through an online video audition, by the international Jury of renowned guitarists and musicians: St. Schmidt, P. Marquez (Basel, CH), D. Tanenbaum, (USA), G.Abiton (FR), J.Kim (DE/CH), M. V. Carnicelli, A. Martelli, and W. Zanetti (IT).

Once more, the finalists will perform a guitar concerto, this time accompanied by the Sinfonieorchester Basel, as well as the cciMB 2024 commissioned composition by Swiss violinist Helena Winkelman. The total value of cash prizes is € 20'000.- with the winner being awarded € 12'000.- and concert opportunities in Switzerland (Rising Star series of the Allgemeine Musikgesellschaft Basel, 2025/2026), Italy (Musical Association Conoscere la Musica - Mario Pellegrini), and other countries. The cciMB 2024 Festival will feature concerts, masterclasses, lectures, and other musical events showcasing the finest regional musical excellence in classical guitar and more.
