The concert performance of the cciMB 2024 finalists will be accompanied by the Sinfonieorchester Basel, one of Switzerland’s oldest and most innovative orchestras. The cciMB 2024 thereby continues its tradition to offer this valuable experience to competition finalists, an opportunity not easily available to young classical guitarist. Each finalist will have at least 1 hour rehearsal time with the orchestra the day before the final round. The Sinfonieorchester Basel was formed in 1997 with the merging of the Symphonie - Orchester Basel and the Radio Symphony Orchestra Basel, although its roots go back to 1876. In the course of its long musical history, the Sinfonieorchester Basel has evolved into a dynamic ensemble that embodies the rich traditions of classical music while embracing the spirit of contemporary expression. Renowned for its commitment to artistic brilliance, it has consistently captivated audiences with its exceptional performances under the baton of world-class conductors. For the cciMB 2024 final round the orchestra will be conducted by Ivor Bolton, its principal conductor since 2016.
